Phylum Mollusca (Giant Clam)

Phylum Mollusca
Giant Clams

The giant clam is in the phylum mollusca and the class bivalve.  The giant clam is the biggest organism in the phylum mollusca.  The giant clam can grow up to 4 ft. and weighs about 500 lbs.  Giant Clams live mostly in the South Pacific and Indian Oceans.  A fact about the giant clam is that once it finds a home it sits there for the rest of its life.  The giant clam eats by sucking in water with the prey through the siphons.  Every giant clam has its own different colors, meaning every clam is a different color.http://animals.nationalgeographic.com/animals/invertebrates/giant-clam/
